Spinal cord workplace injuries could make returning impossible

Spinal cord injuries in the workplace can have an impact that lasts for the rest of a person's life, as complete healing is not always possible. That's not to say it never happens, or that improvement won't be seen, but some people have issues that they must deal with forever, perhaps requiring medical assistance. Some of the common short-term and long-term issues include the following:

-- An inability to walk or difficulty walking.-- Trouble controlling the bowels or moving the arms and/or legs.-- Pain near the injury site, in the back or neck. This can also be accompanied with stiffness, pressure and headaches.-- An inability to straighten the neck or back fully, leading to unnatural posture.

These are just a few examples; as noted, every injury can be different depending on where it occurs, how severe it is, how soon a person gets treatment and much more.

However, they do show just how important on-going medical care can be. Things that a person did easily before, such as cooking and cleaning, could be extremely difficult. Taking a shower can become a dangerous task. Venturing out of the house can become problematic and returning to work may prove to be impossible. This can lead to lost wages that go on top of the medical costs.

A person with a spinal cord injury may feel that he or she has no options after the injury or that the financial implications are too much to overcome. If you've suffered one of these injuries in Nebraska and you're not sure how to proceed financially, it may be time to look into your legal options and your rights. Remember that you're not alone at this time and your rights must be respected.
