Construction safety remains a concern

There are hundreds of thousands of construction workers throughout the United States. Unfortunately, this is one of the most dangerous industries, with workers being injured and killed every year.

For example, there were nearly 1,000 construction site fatalities in 2012 alone. Along with this, many more people were injured in an accident.

There are many causes of construction accidents, with these four among the most common:

-- Falls

-- Struck by an object

-- Electrocutions

-- Caught in or caught between

With all of these causes in mind, among others, it's easy to see how a construction worker could be involved in a serious accident at some point. In short, there is danger lurking around every corner.

On a positive note, due to the many accidents and injuries in the past, companies and their workers are getting serious about preventing the same in the future. With this approach, workers can feel more comfortable with their environment, knowing that there is less risk of being injured.

Even when construction workers are doing whatever they can to remain safe, it doesn't mean that something bad will never happen. This is why it's called an accident.

When a person is injured on a construction site, it's imperative that the worker notifies his or her company and receives immediate medical attention. Both of these things are important for many reasons, including the fact that fast treatment can help minimize the injury caused by the accident.

Furthermore, the steps that you take after an accident will help determine if you're able to receive workers' compensation benefits in the future.

If you have been injured while on the job, you have a right to workers' compensation benefits. If your claim is denied, an experienced attorney can help you file an appeal.
